Paine Creek Builders

When Jason Rodgers, owner of Paine Creek Builders, approached me, he had a clear vision for his new business and a story he wanted the brand to tell. With generations of family history rooted in Leroy Township, Ohio, building was more than a profession. It was part of his heritage. From his family’s historic sawmill and the land surrounding Paine Creek to his great-uncle’s work shaping the local landscape, the story was rich with meaningful details. My challenge was to bring those elements together into a logo that felt personal and distinctive without becoming overly complicated.

Jason provided a wealth of inspiration, including an initial hand-drawn concept and detailed notes about the history and symbolism behind it. I started by identifying the visual elements that mattered most: the creek, a log, a sawmill blade, a home and the surrounding trees. Each had a purpose, representing his family’s history, his passion for building and the place he has always called home. Even the smallest details carried meaning, including the four trees representing Jason, his wife and their two sons, and the window designed around the cross that reflects his faith.

The design process was about finding the right balance between storytelling and simplicity. I refined Jason’s original ideas and brought the individual elements together into a cohesive mark, using the log as a foundation for the company name and the home as the focal point. The earthy color palette reinforces the connection to the land and natural materials, while the bold shapes and clear typography help the logo remain recognizable across applications, from roadside signage to business cards, apparel and digital platforms.

The final identity reflects the values behind Paine Creek Builders: a family-driven business grounded in local history, quality craftsmanship and a commitment to bringing each client’s vision to life. It honors Jason’s personal story while establishing a distinctive, recognizable brand built to grow alongside his business.
